  • Despatch Supervisor

Job Description

Principal Objectives:

  • To assist the despatch manager to despatch all products efficiently and to customer specification

Responsibilities will include but are not subject to:

  • Ensure team are wearing correct PPE and observing Health and Safety procedures at all time
  • Train staff on correct procedures – ensure records are kept up to date
  • Ensure that frozen stock is despatch in date order
  • Ensure that freezers are loaded in the correct processing date order
  • Oversee knocking and loading of product
  • Oversee the effective running of the despatch area when the Despatch Manager is absent
  • Conduct return to work meetings, 1-2-1’s, Holiday scheduling for team
  • Train, mentor and develop new starters
  • Ensure that the despatch area, fridges freezers and linked passageways to despatch are clear and clean
  • Monitor and report stock levels for fresh and frozen products
  • To ensure all vehicles are loaded in a hygienic, accurate and efficient manor
  • Positively role model Pickstock’s leadership behaviours

Day Hygiene Supervisor

Job Description

Pickstock Telford have a great opportunity for a Day Hygiene Supervisor to join their hygiene team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a small team of hygiene operatives to ensure the smooth running of production and surrounding areas of the business.

Please Note: Pickstock Telford is an Abattoir and Day Hygiene Supervisor will be required to go into production to carry out minimal duties.

Job roles include but are not limited to:

. Conducting stock checks and liaising with suppliers/ laundry contractor to order stock items.

. Communicating with service providers to resolve any non-conformances/ issues raised by the business.

. Covering for a team member whilst on holiday.

. Inspecting incoming deliveries to ensure all stock items are correct and stored appropriately.

. Help prepare the site for visitors and external audits.

  • Ensuring PPE is ready for production staff at the start of shift and after break times.
  • Entering production areas to fill up PPE (slash gloves, gloves for employees), to empty bins and to ensure replenishment of stock.
  • Processing of clean and dirty overalls.
  • Distribution of new PPE to employees.
  • Cleaning of employee facilities: Canteens (Microwaves, Tables, Fridges, Worktops) / Toilets/ Changing Rooms. Ensuring bins are also emptied.
  • Cleaning of the floors (sweeping and mopping), stairwells, inside windows.
  • Replenishment of essential items (soap and hand sanitiser in dispensers), paper towels across site.
  • Cleaning of office areas
  • Unloading of cleaning deliveries

Sales Administrator

Job Description

Principal Objectives:

To assist the sales manager and account managers in continuing to develop profitable business within our existing and expanding account base.

Liaising with customer service, production and logistics to ensure excellence in customer service.

To ensure clear communication between Pickstock and our customer base in terms of pricing, logistics, product specifications, promotions etc.

Responsibilities will include but are not subject to:

  • Managing e-mail accounts– to include handling of customer enquiries, orders, troubleshooting, forwarding information to relevant departments.
  • Process orders onto the company software system, ensuring paperwork is completed correctly.
  • File and maintain information, including customer requests / orders and order confirmation
  • To assist sales manager in compiling sales offers / quotes
  • To assist the sales manager in sharing information with the sales and other teams
  • Following orders through to despatch and payment, completion of various sales reports
  • Assist marketing and New Product Development when required
  • Constant feedback of information with regard to market & competitor activities to colleagues.
  • Carry out day to day administrative tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Additional ad hock duty as required by sales manager.
  • Maintaining and further developing customer relationships.
  • Work effectively within financial/operations/sales team.
  • Organising and preparing reports to a high standard and meet deadlines.
  • Support other members of the sales team with holiday cover and extra help over busy periods.

Despatch Manager

Job Description

Principal Objectives:

  • To manage and oversee the effective running of the Despatch department and team members
  • To ensure the smooth, efficient and hygienic management of the Product, Packaging & Loading
  • Manage contingency planning to ensure adaptability in changing environments
  • Ensure correct Transportation is used and Goods in & Out are unloaded in a safe manner
  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal Sales, Production and Transport
  • Be an ambassador for safe working practices, modelling Health and Safety at all times to supervisors and the team

Responsibilities will include but are not subject to:

  1. To produce to the required volumes and quality of product as required by the business and its customers, working to specification requirements
  2. To manage the monitoring and reporting of stock levels weekly for fresh and frozen product
  3. Manage the Despatch supervisors and teams with their daily duties and tasks
  4. Responsible and accountable, conscientious and punctual at all times
  5. To continually monitor, record and be responsible for Temperature checks on fridges and freezers
  6. To liaise with third party system’s support to make changes and/or correct issues that arise
  7. To work collaboratively with all departments to ensure that everything runs efficiently
  8. Maintaining department spending is within agreed budgets
  9. To ensure all vehicles are loaded in a hygienic, accurate and efficient manner as directed by the sales team.
  10. Train the Despatch team using the correct procedures ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  11. Building relationships at all levels with customers including internally within the company
  12. Manage the disposal of waste cleanly and effectively, and where applicable within the law.
  13. Full responsibility for the state (cleanliness and hygiene) of the Despatch Area, Fridges, Freezers, and any linking passageways/corridors and yard areas
  14. To ensure the completion of documentation is done so, in an accurate, timely manner
  15. Fire Registers, Time sheets, Racking Inspections and Check sheets must be completed and readily available for audit purposes
  16. Food Safety, Quality & Legality is paramount, therefore you must ensure that you, and the staff you are responsible for adhere to all Site & Departmental Policies & Procedures
  17. To ensure correct segregation of Pet Foods/Treats
  18. Continually monitor staff to ensure they correctly and thoroughly Sterilise/Sanitise all food contact surfaces and equipment
  19. Health & Safety and the wearing of the correct Personal Protective Equipment & Clothing is defined within your area of responsibility. You must ensure all staff are wearing the correct PPE and that it is in good condition, you must monitor, change and/or replace PPE where necessary. Stock levels must be reported to your Direct Manager and or equivalent personnel on a weekly basis
  20. Ensure all staff at a high level and where applicable are attached to the platform, in the correct manner as stated within Safe Working Procedures and/or Training and by the correct means
  21. To record staff Holidays and sickness, disciplining where applicable
  22. To delegate to other team members and to highlight areas of weakness
  23. To ensure Hygiene Rules are adhered to by all staff within and around your area
  24. To ensure that machinery, floors, equipment, walls and surfaces within your area of responsibility is kept to the highest hygienic standard
  25. To report any defaults and/or non-conforming product immediately
  26. To ensure downtime is kept to a minimum, Report and Record issues in an effective, efficient and timely manner
  27. To follow the correct Chemical Procedures, this includes the use of Chemicals, Identification, Storage, Personal Protective Equipment, Awareness & location of Safety Data sheets

Slaughterhouse Operatives

Pickstock Telford are a supplier of quality British Beef to foodservice professionals, wholesalers, and retailers across the UK and through international trade.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the processing of cattle in accordance with individual training and licensing as applicable.
Duties include:

· Dressing, Trimming and Cutting of the Carcass
· Ensuring all parts of the carcuss are trimmed to produce optimum production yield
· Removal of waste according to company policy
· Preparation of animal carcasses

Job Title:   Sales Account Manager

Department: Sales

Reporting to:  Sales Manager

Location: Office Based, Telford  (Potential UK and Europe based travel)

Principal Objectives:

Reporting to the Sales Manager and working closely with other Sales Account Managers, this role will make up a key part of the Sales Team to manage selling of all hide products, Pet Food products, bones and other cat 3 products along with managing the sale or disposal of cat 1 and 2 products. The role will demand experience of managing within an abattoir or similar environment, and an extensive knowledge of meat industry practices is essential. We are seeking a hard working and dynamic sales professional to join our fast-paced company.

Responsibilities will include but are not subject to:

  • Manage and sell all ‘5th Quarter’ products, direct selling of all hide products, Pet Food products, bones and other cat 3 products
  • Managing the sale or disposal of cat 1 and 2 products
  • Key and proactive member of sales team
  • Setting up of production methods and targets
  • Report back to sales manager and others within the company and group on production yields and values achieved
  • Responsible for checking products to specifications, starting new lines, evaluating best production outcome in terms of added value
  • Managing stocks and reporting to sales on all edible items within the scope of the 5th quarter
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure smooth process, including spending time in production
  • Effectively build relationships with key people within the business
  • Understand customers needs and always look to deliver what has been promised
  • Help further establish Pickstock as a supplier of choice by managing reputation with customers
  • Provide a robust review and commentary of sales area with ability to provide ‘big-picture’ thinking on continuous improvement
